Cleanroom doors should be selected as part of the wall, pressure and operational system rather than as a standard interior door with a smooth finish. Pharmaceutical, laboratory, electronics and controlled-manufacturing facilities may have different cleanliness, pressure, cleaning and access requirements, so the quotation request must describe the room conditions clearly.
Start with the room classification and use
Identify the room function, required cleanliness level, pressure relationship and traffic pattern. Explain whether people, carts or equipment regularly pass through the opening. Where the project has airlocks or interlocked doors, include the operating sequence and access-control requirements.
Door leaf and frame construction
Confirm the required panel material, core, surface finish, edge treatment and frame interface with the cleanroom wall. Flush surfaces and controlled joints may simplify cleaning, but the exact construction must suit the project specification. Provide wall thickness and panel-system details so the frame profile can be coordinated.
Sealing and pressure considerations
State whether perimeter seals, drop seals or thresholds are required and how the pressure differential is managed. Seal selection affects operating force, maintenance and floor transitions. The supplier should understand whether the door must support a room-pressure strategy or mainly provide a cleanable separation.
Glazing and hardware

- Hinges, locks, closers and pull or lever hardware
- Access control, door contacts and interlock preparation
- Protection from carts or equipment where needed
- Emergency release and egress requirements
- Compatibility with cleaning agents and maintenance procedures
Details to include in the quotation package
Send opening marks, sizes, handing, quantities, wall-panel details, room names, pressure notes and finish requirements. Add the hardware or access-control schedule and identify items supplied by others. If the cleanroom system supplier has typical details, include them so interfaces can be reviewed before drawings are prepared.
Before approving production
Review shop drawings, clear openings, frame interfaces, seal details, glazing, hardware preparation and installation sequence. Confirm how doors and loose accessories will be labeled and packed, especially when several rooms use similar-looking openings with different functions.
