Start with the opening schedule
Send a door schedule, BOQ, drawing set or product list in the format currently available. Each opening should ideally include a mark number, size, quantity, handing, wall type and location. Rough information is acceptable at the first stage as long as assumptions are clearly identified.
Performance requirements to confirm
- Required fire rating and referenced project standard
- Door and frame material, construction and finish
- Vision panels, louvers, glazing or radiation-shielding requirements
- Interior, exterior, hygiene, security or corrosion exposure
- Label, certificate, submittal and inspection requirements
Frame and wall coordination
Frame depth, profile and anchoring depend on the supporting wall and installation sequence. Provide wall type and thickness for masonry, concrete, drywall or panel systems. For existing openings, include site dimensions and photographs where possible.
Hardware and access-control scope
Clarify whether hinges, locks, closers, panic devices, seals, thresholds and access-control preparations are supplied with the door package or by others. If a hardware schedule is not ready, describe the operational requirements so preparation allowances can be discussed before production.
Commercial and delivery information
Include the project location, required quantity, target delivery period, preferred trade terms and any phased-shipment needs. Packing, documentation, glazing and hardware inclusions should be stated in the quotation so competing offers can be compared on the same basis.
