A door schedule gives contractors and suppliers a common list of openings to price, coordinate and manufacture. It does not need to be perfect before the first quotation, but it should identify each opening consistently and separate confirmed information from assumptions.
Use a unique mark for every opening type
Assign a door mark or opening number that matches the plans. Repeated openings can share a type when their size, handing, frame, rating, finish and hardware are genuinely the same. If one of those items differs, create a separate line or make the exception clear.
Record the basic dimensions
Include nominal or structural opening size, door leaf size if known, wall thickness and frame depth. State whether the opening is single, pair, unequal pair or part of a door-and-window assembly. Confirm the measurement convention so suppliers do not price different sizes from the same schedule.
Identify handing and operation
Show swing direction and handing using the convention adopted by the project team. Add room names or plan references to reduce ambiguity. For sliding, automatic or access-controlled openings, describe the operating sequence and components that affect factory preparation.
Add performance and construction fields
- Fire rating and referenced standard
- Door leaf material, thickness and core where specified
- Frame profile, material and wall type
- Vision panel, glazing or louver details
- Interior or exterior exposure and finish
- Acoustic, hygiene, security or shielding requirements
Coordinate the hardware set
Reference a hardware-set number or list the required hinges, locks, closers, panic devices, seals, thresholds and access-control preparation. Clarify which components are supplied with the door package, factory prepared only or provided by others. Hardware coordination is one of the most common sources of quotation differences.
Include commercial and delivery information
Add quantities, project location, requested delivery period, packing sequence and documentation requirements. If doors must be grouped by floor, building or construction phase, include that information before packing and labeling are planned.
How to handle missing details
Mark unknown fields as 鈥渢o be confirmed鈥?and ask suppliers to list their assumptions. This is better than copying a generic value across every opening. Maintain revision dates and highlight changes so quotations and drawings can be compared against the same schedule version.
Use the quotation-support checklist, review door frame anchor considerations, and describe your current schedule through the Bastion Door quotation form.
